GLADYS HENDRICKS : ARTIST SPOTLIGHT

We asked our entire team of artists about this project. Check out what Gladys Hendricks (ROSS/WITCH) has to say about it.

Gladys Hendricks

What was your first Shakespeare play?

Read: A Midsummer Night's Dream in 7th grade

Performed: Richard III as Queen Elizabeth What drew you to this production?

I had the good fortune of hearing about this idea when it was little more than a “what if…” Being a Shakespeare nerd, it was exciting to watch how it grew. Too often directors will try to force a clever idea onto a classic piece that it really doesn't fit. This production team has found one that does, and it is so exciting to see it come alive.

Why are you excited about this production?

I think we are all more susceptible to our screens and the narratives on them than we'd like to think. I'm excited to work on a piece that asks us to face that vulnerability. What other plays would like to do in this style?

Eugene O'Neill. Why does everyone have to be so ridiculous 1000% of the time? What do you think will surprise people about this production?

The witches. Won't say more. Why wouldn't you want anyone to miss M.Beth?

Shakespeare's been done before. A lot. Don't miss the chance to see a really different, engaging take. Shake it up. Wild Card!
